Peter Burke says its something that will be addressed in October's budget.
But hoteliers have defended prices, saying sometimes demand outweighs availability.
President of the Irish Hotels Federation and owner of Cork's Vienna Woods Hotel, Michael Magner, insists there's evidence to back this up:
"What we saw last weekend was a situation whereby two large scale events, that was the Robbie Williams concert and an American college game where over 20,000 American visitors came to the capital, and will continue to holiday in Ireland this week. Demand simply outstripped supply, and what that report in 2023 identified over the course of 12 months, you would have a number of compression nights."
