Depeche Mode's Andy Fletcher died from an aortic dissection - a tear in the body's main artery.
Posting on Instagram his bandmates say while he was "taken far, far too soon" he passed naturally and without prolonged suffering.
They also say they and the keyboard player's family have "seen and felt" all the love and support from fans since his death last month.
