Two Cork hotels are to offer their staff twice weekly Covid tests

The Kingsley Hotel and Fota Island Resort have partnered with Douglas based SureRapid Testing to offer staff two rapid-antigen tests a week.

Hotels, B&Bs, hostels and self catering accommodation are due to reopen on Wednesday following a five month closure.

Speaking to RedFM News, general manager of The Kingsley, Fergal Harte outlines the thinking behind the move:

"It's not a perfect process but it's one that's relatively inexpensive, it's quite easy to administer. The company have trained our staff in actually administering the tests. And it's also important because it actually gives comfort to the staff but also identifies asymptomatic cases as well, so staff who may not feel ill can come and get tested- it may show up in that case."
