The number of people with Covid-19 in hospital has fallen for the first time since Christmas Day.

1,954 patients with the disease are receiving treatment on wards.

Yesterday there were 146 covid-positive patients treated at Cork University Hospital including 15 in the ICU.

The total number of people on wards has fallen from 2,020 yesterday morning.

It's a 3 percent decrease on yesterday's total, however in the past week the number has risen by 15 percent

In the past 24 hours there have been 115 admissions, while there were also 153 discharges associated with the disease - which is a new record.

Figures last night showed there were 199 people with the disease in Intensive Care.
