Meat processers agree to wider level of COVID19 testing as another plant suspends operations

Carroll Cuisine is to suspend operations at its Tullamore plant in Co Offaly to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in the community.

They are the 4th processor in the midlands to close their doors after more than 300 factory workers at the 4 plants tested positive.

On Friday Kildare, Laois and Offaly were put under partial lockdown amid concern at the spread of Covid 19.

Today processors met with SIPTU - the union representing staff and agreed to a wider level of testing for the virus at meat factories.
