Macroom bypass selected as one of the few construction projects nationwide to continue under Level5

Construction on the Macroom bypass project has been given the green light to continue.

Under the current restrictions construction sites have been closed however a small number of projects have been deemed essential and are exempt from the current lockdown.

The €280 million project is expected to completed by 2023 which it's hoped will provided greater connectivity in the southern region.

Speaking to RedFM News Cork TD Aindrias Moynihan says if the project was shut down its completion date could be affected, and the project will give Cork the economic and tourism boost it will need over the next decade:
