Gardai In Cork Reminding Motorists Dozens Of Checkpoints Will Be In Place Across The City And County This Weekend

It forms part of Operation Fanacht in an attempt to curb the spread of Covid-19

They are appealing to the public to continue following the current Covid-19 public health guidelines which include limiting your contact with people, wearing a face mask when required, avoiding non-essential travel, and restricing visitors from entering your home.

The appeal comes as NPHET today  has recommended the whole of Ireland be moved to Level 5 Covid restrictions.

Public health officials believe a six week lockdown is necessary to suppress the virus. 

Speaking to RedFM News, Superintendent Adrian Gamble of Midleton Garda Station says the ultimate goal of the checkpoints is to stop the spread of the virus and save lives:
