Gardai have been categorisd as key workers under the Government vaccination policy so they're hopeful that they will see the roll out of the vaccine for their members quickly as currently there are 55 gardai in Cork city self isolating due to Covid 19

Speaking to RedFM News GRA President Frank Thornton says the high numbers among the force shows the danger of infection for gardaí as frontline workers in the battle against Covid-19
"There is no coming away from the fact of, given the nature of our duty, and the fact that the static checkpoints are back now with operations going on. The landscape has changed significantly from where we were in March of last year, and it is alarming and it's something that we're monitoring very, very closely"
