CMO denies there's resistance against the use of antigen testing for international travel

Politicians want Dr Tony Holohan to appear before the Oireachtas Transport Committee to explain why PCR testing for international travel is being insisted upon. 

The Committee yesterday heard evidence that an antigen test is more effective than a PCR test for travel.


Boris Johnson has told G7 leaders their economies can "bounce back strongly" from the coronavirus pandemic and there are reasons to be "optimistic". 

Over the next few days topics to be discussed include vaccines, climate change and international security.

Opening the summit in Cornwall, the British prime minister said it's vital mistakes made during the crisis aren't repeated. 


Regulations giving effect to the Digital Covid Certificate will be signed at EU level on Monday.

The EU Council has adopted the proposals, that will facilitate travel between member states.

Earlier this week, MEPs at the European Parliament backed the proposals.

Vaccination, test and recovery certificates will apply from July 1.

However, the Irish government is set to implement the measure from July 19th.
