Calls for plans to build social housing development on Bessborough site to be scrapped

A number of Cork TDs have called for plans to build a social housing development on the Bessborough site to be scrapped.
Cork TD Holly Cairns hit out at the planning application and branded it distasteful and disrespectful, while Cork TD Seán Sherlock has asked the Housing Minister to intervene with use of ministerial directives under the planning act.
The plans for the development, which would be located on lands associated with the Bessborough Mother and Baby home, have raised serious concern with fears that hundreds of babies could be buried on the 200-acre estate on the city’s southside.
Speaking to RedFM News Mother and Baby Homes survivor Terri Harrison who spent time in both Bessborough and St Patrick's where she last saw her son Niall in 1973 says the situation is shameful:
