There is a call on the Government to clarify if Ireland has breached EU sanctions against Russia.
The comments follow a story on the DiplomacyIreland.eu website which states Aeroflot has purchased 10 Boeing 777 long haul aircrafts from an Irish leasing company.
EU sanctions are in place against Russia since the start of the War in Ukraine last February.
Senator Craughwell says the Government here needs to confirm if sanctions have been breached:
"My concern that is that it would appear, from what we're seeing, that the government or somebody in the airline leasing industry, has decided to ignore the sanctions. Or have they been given permission to ignore the sanctions, with respect to the sale of these aircraft, by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment?"
