The majority of people would prefer to be a millionaire rather than a billionaire, according to a study by Bath University.

The research highlights the fact humans aren't all motivated to want more and more.

Research by Bath University has busted the myth that greed is good.

Most of the 8,000 people surveyed stated that a billion is too much but they would be fine with being a millionaire.

These people in Dublin describe what their first purchase would be on if they won the jackpot:

"I'd buy my football club.I follow Coventry City.

"Holiday. I wouldn't add a single soul and I'd go away and I would just ... run away.

"Fantasy house.

"I'd like to see my children comfortable in a proper home.

"Houses... cars...".

Finance Expert Eoin McGee notes the research hints that getting richer doesn't equal becoming happier:

"If you have twice as much as as needed to cover your basic needs, you're not twice as happy as the person who only has enough to cover their basic needs."

Spokesperson for the National Lottery, Sarah Orr describes that's winners are always delighted regardless of the amount:

"They are all delighted with the win and everything. But I think the thing that really stands out is most people, they're really interested in sharing the wealth."

This finding certainly bodes well for the future as we endeavour to become more conscious consumers and adopt sustainability practices.
