A new higher-frequency Cobh and Midleton train service kicks off today after two weeks of repairs.
Iarnrod Eireann is rolling out 32 extra train services on the route.
The enhanced schedule will run every 30 minutes at peak time to and from the City.
Communications officer with Iarnrod Eireann Barry Kenny says it's good news for Cork.
"Following works over the last two weeks, the lines from Cork to Cobh and Midleton will reopen today.
"It will be an enhanced service, with twice the off peak frequency, so instead of every 60 minutes each way on both those lines it will be every 30 minutes, giving commuters more choice throughout the day, and making public transport, and rail services particularly, more attractive for commuters in the Cork area."
