The youngest ever person to sit a Junior Cert exam has just set herself an even bigger challenge.
12 year old Cara Darmody recently breezed through the junior cycle maths exam, scoring 97 per cent.
The Tipperary schoolgirl set herself the task to raise funds for autism services - and is preparing to sit the ordinary level Leaving Cert maths exam next.
Cara - who helps to care for her two autistic brothers - says she wants to draw attention to the severe shortage of services:
"I did it for those 18,000 children who are on those waiting lists, and also those almost 1 million people, all over the country, on all HSE waiting lists. It's a national crisis and the national disgrace to be totally honest with you".
