This weekend marks the 41st anniversary of Charles Self’s murder.

The talented TV set designer was strangled and stabbed to death in his home in Monkstown in Dublin in the early hours of the 21st of January 1982.

His killer has never been found.

Frank Greaney, host of the true-crime podcast, Inside the Crime: The Charles Self Murder, hopes the passage of time will encourage somebody to come forward:

"We're convinced that somebody out there knows something, and so to mark the 41st anniversary of Charles Self’s murder, we’re appealing to anyone with information to come forward, particularly the mystery man in the taxi who went home with Charles that night.

This man wore a neat 2-piece suit, was maybe 25yo with floppy fair hair.

He’d be in his 60s now and while he was initially treated as a potential suspect, it’s now thought he may have witnessed what happened to Charles and fled."

The Garda Confidential Line is 1800 666 111 and Gardaí it’s never too late to do the right thing.
