Up to 50,000 people may be over-paying for private health insurance.
It's because of a system introduced in 2015 for first-time policy holders.
Individuals over the age of 34 - on entry level policies - would have to pay an additional 2% of the gross premium for 10 years.
Personal Finance Editor with the Irish Independent, Charlie Weston, says people panic-purchased and need to review their cover.
"Because they rushed to take out health insurance when the rules changed haven't looked at it since, they really should do something to make sure they can get a better plan.
"Even if they have signed up again to the same plan, they have a 14 day cooling off period to get a different plan - just ring up your health insurer."
