Ukrainian refugees take up Irish classes

A number of Ukrainian refugees have taken up Irish classes since arriving here earlier this year.

Conradh na Gaeilge has offered scholarships to a dozen new arrivals, after Ukrainians enquired about learning the language.

Khadizha fled to Ireland after her village in Ukraine was destroyed by Russian bombing.

She says she wanted to learn Irish after seeing her native Ukrainian language under threat from a neighbouring oppressor.
