Ukrainian refugees who arrive in the country will be put up temporarily at Local Authority sites.

The Citywest Transit Hub for Ukrainians will be closed for processing from Christmas Eve until December 27th.

The Department of Children says finding extra accommodation will be very challenging for the period up to January 13th.

People Before Profit TD Paul Murphy says more needs to be known about the quality of accommodation at council sites:

"Well, it's concerning because it's not really clear what Local Authority Sites mean. I think what absolutely needs to be avoided this Christmas is that nobody, be they Ukrainian, be they from Afghanistan or Syria, or be they Irish, nobody should be sleeping in tents".
