Toy retailers are warning shoppers to buy early to avoid disappointment this festive season.
Global supply issues are causing many Christmas favourites to be in short supply.
Stock of one of the most sought after gifts, the Playstation five, is being severely impacted due to the shortages.
Ralph Riegel, Journalist with the Irish Independent, says its due to the computer chip needed to make the gaming device:
"There's also a shortage of computer processing chips, which have affected everything really from I mean car production, right through to some of the most popular computer games, and in particular the PlayStation five. So what's happened is a lot of the top end electronic and games are are in relatively short supply."
