The three coalition party leaders will discuss a possible ban on evictions from rental properties at a meeting later.
It's expected the proposal, that could be introduced before Christmas and last until February or March, will go before cabinet tomorrow.
It comes after the Housing Minister sought advice from the attorney general on a potential ban.
Minister Darragh O'Brien says they need to be careful it won't have a negative impact on the rental market.
