Thousands of people have taken to the streets in Navan to protest over plans to close their local Emergency Department.
They're furious at the prospect of having their E.D. replaced by an medical assessment and injury unit.
Fianna Fail Senator Shane Cassells is among the speakers who passionately addressed the crowd:
"Don't lecture me. Don't lecture anyone else for defending the people of Navan. There're lots of people playing God here, but I'll end my speech with this Latin phrase: 'Vox Populi, Vox Dei' - 'The voice of the people is the voice of God'. Thank you very much".
