Hundreds of third level students were hit by delays in the payment of their SUSI maintenance grant.

The monthly maintenance grant was set to be paid out to students in receipt of SUSI yesterday, but some students in higher education institutions did not receive a payment.

RedFM has requested a statement from SUSI on the matter, but it's understood that in some cases the issue lies with students not registering correctly or on time and in other cases colleges failed to register students with SUSI by the relevant closing date.

Students who contacted SUSI directly have been told that they must wait until next month when they will receive a double payment.

Speaking to RedFM News, Nicola Flynn who is studying at UL says she has been left in limbo without her September payment.
