MTU says it will take a number of weeks before an investigation into the ransomware attack on the university will be completed.

The university's four Cork campuses will remain closed until Monday due to the cyber attack which occurred last weekend.

MTU says immediate steps were taken to intercept and manage the incident and they have been working closely with the National Cyber Security Centre, the Data Protection Commission, and the Gardai.

A man's been charged with the murder of an Irishman in Australia.

Damien Conlon, originally from Co. Sligo but living in Australia for the past decade, was found with gunshot wounds at a house in Oberon in New South Wales on Thursday.

He died at the scene despite efforts to revive him.

7 News Australia reports that 57 year old Luke Simon has been formally charged with Mr. Conlon's murder

The chronic shortage of medicines is continuing with 249 in short supply this week.

The number of medicines in short supply has increased by 34 per cent since last October.

Several antibiotics and over-the-counter cough and cold medicines remain problematic to source.
