The Road Safety Authority Have Launched A New Christmas Road Safety Campaign

It has been launched alongside Ireland's emergency services

143 people have lost their lives on Irish roads so far this year, which is 12 more than in 2019.

Here in Cork, 22 people have died in road traffic accidents in 2020.

While yesterday news broke that 4 people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in Mallow over a 24 hour period.

18 people have died on Irish roads between Christmas and New Year's since 2015, with Gardai saying checkpoints will be increased this festive season.

Speaking to RedFM News, Brian Farrell of the RSA says Christmas and New Years is a particularly high-risk time of year in Ireland:
