Those sitting the exams will not have to pay the fees which would usually be €116 and €109 for the Leaving Certificate and Junior Cycle exams respectively.
The information comes just days before the timetable for the examinations are set to be released.
It was confirmed earlier this week the exams will be held in an exam only format , with no accredited grades or hybrid model.
