A TD is warning supermarket shelves will be empty if the disruption at the ports continues.

Almost 30% of goods entering Dublin Port are being held back over documentation issues.

Independent TD Verona Murphy, former head of the Road Haulage Association, says the disruption will have knock on impacts.

"Utter disruption has ensued since the first of January  at ports in business and in the supply chain.

"Food is being destroyed, business are failing, jobs are and will be lost.

"Consumers will pay a hefty price in their shopping basket if this is to continue."
