Fresh efforts will be made today to break the impasse preventing the restoration of power sharing Government in the north.

Taoiseach Micheal Martin will travel to Belfast later for more talks with both political and business leaders.

While Foreign Affairs Minister Simon Coveney will hold discussion on the margins of a Council of Europe meeting in Turin with the British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss, who has proposed unilateral legislative changes to the Northern Ireland Protocol.

It comes as one of the most powerful politicians in the US says it's "deeply concerning" the UK's threatening to rip-up the protocol.

Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the House of Representatives, says it could put peace in Northern Ireland at risk.

She says America will oppose anything that could undermine the Good Friday Agreement.
