The Taoiseach expects a Covid inquiry to get underway this year.
He insists it would not be about pointing fingers and apportioning blame over the way the pandemic was handled in Ireland.
Leo Varadkar says it's about learning from the country's experience in dealing with Covid:
"How Ireland managed the pandemic, and how we handled COVID. I think it's important that we do that. It's not going to be pointing fingers or ascribing blame. It's going to be about getting to the truths, understanding what happened, what we did well, what we did badly, what could have been done better".
