The Tánaiste denies a tax on vacant land zoned for housing is revenue raising, saying it's to make sure it's developed.

The issue was raised by Independent Wexford TD Verona Murphy during Leader's Questions saying that due to planning laws in Ireland it may take a long time for a site to be developed.

She claimed the Government was using it to raise taxes, rather than encouraging building.

Leo Varadkar denied that's the case.
