A state-of-the-art new lifeboat station will be opened today by Lough Ree RNLI.
It's happening at Coosan Point in Athlone at 2 o'clock this afternoon, where the charity's Atlantic 85 class lifeboat, Tara Scougall will also be named.
It's being named in honour of a mother who lived an active life on the water before her premature death from cancer at the age of 43.
