Empty buildings in towns and city centres need to be used to house the homeless.
That's the message from the Simon Communities, as it holds a conference today.
It's also concerned about the increase in single people who are homeless, as there aren't enough one and two bed units.
Simon Communities spokesperson, Wayne Stanley, says vacant buildings need to be used to house young people in towns and city centres:
"They want to live in our towns and city centres, it's ecologically more effective, it brings vitality and life back to our town centres.
"The opportunity to revitalise our towns and city centres is there.
"From the Simon Communities' perspective what we are looking for is increased housing stock, and affordability in the housing system that will allow us to get ahead of the homeless crisis."
