A second Green Party backbencher has said the National Maternity Hospital deal is the wrong one.
Patrick Costello joins Neasa Hourigan in opposition to the proposed relocation agreed by the Cabinet this morning.
The Government plans not to oppose a Sinn Féin motion calling for full public ownership of the land in order to avoid a contentious Dáil vote.
Taoiseach Micheál Martin has given his full backing to the terms of the deal agreed by Ministers:
"There's nothing in the lease that is an imposition on the state whatsoever. Nothing in the lease that is an imposition on the state at all, despite attempts to muddy the waters and deliberately, in my view, confuse that issue. On the broader issue, the concerns that were raised after the Mulvey deal, and over a year ago have been comprehensively addressed by this government and by the Minister".
