Ryanair doesn't see the return of the Cork - Dublin airlink as a possibility.
The comments come after DAA chief Kenny Jacobs described the return of Cork to Dublin flights as a strong possibility.
Cork Airport is on course for a record year and is set to welcome it's 1 millionth passenger this year with further growth predicted.
Ryanair and Aer Lingus last operated fights between Cork and Dublin in 2011 when the M8 motorway opened which dramatically cut driving times between the two cities, however Kenny Jacobs believes that there is a "strong possibility" that the route could be re-instated.
However Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary has ruled out the possibility
"I don't think the Cork-Dublin flight will return. Apologies, but this is Irish local politics.
"The motorway journeys are now less than two hours and train services are less than two hours.
"We were the main airline operating Cork -Dublin flights with three flights a day with 97% load factors. And once they finished the motorway the load factor went from 97% to 23%.
"It wouldn't be the first time Kenny Jacobs was wrong in predicting that Cork-Dublin flights would return."
