High Garda visibility and constant speed checks need to be a feature of our roads in order to halt the rising death toll.

Three motorcyclists have died on Cork roads in the space of just four days this week bringing the numbers killed in Cork to 10 so far this year.

Road safety campaigners say the penalty points system is not enough of a deterrent and the lack of Garda presence is leading to motorists taking risks.

Speaking to RedFM News, Susan Gray, from road safety group PARC, says there needs to be constant and regular checkpoints on our roads.

"People need to believe that no matter what week it is, the chances of getting caught is gonna be high. The authorities let it slip so far, that it's gonna take time now and calm constant checkpoints".
