The live goat kept in a cage in a tower at the Puck Fair in Killorglin, Co Kerry, has been released.
Organisers say King Puck was removed from the top of the stand this morning, placed in the shade with a constant supply of cold water and food, and is receiving hourly vet check-ups.
It follows criticism of the tradition at the Kerry event, due to the current hot spell, and animal welfare concerns.
Organisers say the goat has a good bill of health.
