Protests outside abortion clinics and maternity hospitals are set to be banned by the end of the year.
New proposed legislation which was finalised today, will see 'Safe Access Zones' established outside abortion clinics - stopping demonstrations from taking place within 100 metres of the facility.
Health Minister Stephen Donnelly hopes the bill can be fast-tracked through the Dáil and Seanad this autumn:
"I've also now submitted for consideration to my Cabinet colleagues, a scheme for Safe Access cells. So my hope is that I get agreement from Cabinet colleagues soon on that. I'll then send that arm to the Oireachtas health committee for pre legislative scrutiny, and I would love to have that bill passed all stages and in law in this calendar year."
