Pregnant Teachers Raise Concerns About Returning To Classrooms In September

The ASTI say they're worried about having to mix with large numbers of unvaccinated or partially vaccinated students.

The union says there is particular concern among unvaccinated teachers-who are in the early stages of pregnancy, as they cannot get vaccinated until they are more than 14 weeks.

ASTI General Secretary Kieran Christie says their concerns are valid and he's appealing to the Education Minister to examine the issue:

"This is a relatively small matter to deal with compassionately and fairly. It's not acceptable and entirely a breach of the duty-of-care to these teachers."
