Politicians in Northern Ireland have been publicly apologising to survivors of historical institutional abuse.
It's five years since a public inquiry found shocking levels of mistreatment at 22 children’s homes between 1922 and 1995.
Education Minister Michelle McIlveen promised victims they have been heard:
"We acknowledge that as adults now, and survivors of historical institutional abuse you carry the effects of that suffering. And we apologise to you for the trauma inflicted upon you as children whilst in the care of the state."
