Plans to move 135 Ukrainian women and children from Kerry to Mayo have been scrapped.

There had been strong criticisms of the original proposal, as many children were attending local schools and mothers were working in the area.

They had been given just 48 hours notice of the move.

There were calls for the decision to be reversed and today the Department of Integration confirmed that alternative accommodation had been found in Killarney.

Fine Gael TD for Mayo, Michael Ring, says there is huge pressure on accommodation in the county.
