People will have to buy tickets to go to night-clubs and late-night venues, under new guidelines published this evening.

Culture and Arts Minister Catherine Martin says regulations for this will be in place next week.

It comes just hours before the sector opens tonight for the first time in nine months.

Full capacity is allowed at night clubs, and 1,500 standing customers can go to live music events.

Vinny Casey From The Workman’s Club in Dublin outlines how they will operate this evening:

"The queuing system will be as spread out as possible. Come up, you have a mask on, COVID cert scanned, you go down to the ticket desk, scan your ticket, and then you can go in and take a seat, or go to the bar with your mask on,  and then when you sit down or when you go up to the dance floor, where the band are set up, you can take off your mask then."
