People are being encouraged to schedule some time to 'squeeze in a read' today.
It comes as "Ireland Reads Day" gets underway around the country.
The initiative aims to highlight the benefits of picking up a book for your mental health.
Author and ambassador for 'Ireland Reads', Colm Tóibín says everybody can benefit from reading a book:
Nobody would say "Oh, I regretted doing that" People regret lazing around wasting their time thinking, I wish I could read more. The idea is you go to http://www.irelandreads.ie and you pledge and you say you're up for reading. And then you choose a book that you think you're going to like."
