People aged 18 to 49 are being urged to get their second Covid booster as booking officially opens for the group today.
But only if it is 6 months since their last vaccine or since they have had a COVID-19 infection
Appointments can be made on the HSE website www.hse.ie
Eileen Whelan, National Lead, for the COVID-19 Vaccination Programme said a sizeable number of the those in the age group are in hospital as a result of Covid.
"8% of all of the people in hospital with COVID-19 are in the 15 to 49 age group. That's a total of 65 people in that age group that have been hospitalised due to COVID-19 and 19% of people in the 35 to 44 age group have tested positive with COVID-19 and that's the highest age category that have tested positive with COVID-19"
