Bruce Springsteen fans can save 200 euro by travelling to see the rocker perform in Rome instead of staying in Dublin, according to Pearse Doherty.
The Sinn Fein TD is calling on the government to reign in spiralling hotel prices in Dublin and hold a meeting with industry bosses.
Pearse Doherty says customers should feel the benefit of the government's decision to extend the 9 percent VAT rate for hotels:
"The VAT is usually 13.5%. It's coming at a cost. It's the taxpayer that pays this money. It's coming at a cost. It's a benefit to the hotel sector. We need to be making it very clear that we will not be providing these type of supports if the hotel sector, particularly in Dublin, continue to do what they're doing, which is to charge the highest prices that they can and not recognising the impact that that's going to have".
