The parents of an infant who died after being hit by a vehicle say they thought their son was asleep in bed.
The incident occurred around 9 o'clock yesterday morning near Ballinagare in Co Roscommon.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene, where the child was treated but later pronounced dead.
It's understood that the parents are from the UK, and had been staying with family here in Ireland.
