Other countries with similar populations, but fund their ambulance services properly, don't experience the same chronic issues as we do in Ireland.

That's according to a representative for the PNA and National Ambulance Service Representative Association, Brendan Flynn.

He was reacting to the leaking of an unpublished HSE presentation by the Irish Times.

The report warns that a target of responding to life-threatening cases within 19 minutes, would be met in fewer than 40 per cent of instances - by 2027.

Speaking to RedFM News, Brendan Flynn from NASRA and the PNA says other countries run their ambulance services much better:

"Scotland - very, very similar in population size to ourselves. They've got 6000 paramedics, we've got 2000. They've got twice the amount of vehicles and there appear to be the same concern in Scotland as here in relation to ambulance response times and that's understandable".
