A growing number of doctors are leaving the Irish workforce for better opportunities.
17% said they left their post in 2021 due to limited career progression, up from 14.8% in 2020.
However, the Medical Council's latest Workforce Intelligence report also shows there were 2,605 newly registered doctors last year, an increase of 14%.
The Council's Director of Professional Competence, Research, and Ethics, Jantze Cotter, says Irish trained doctors are highly sought after around the world.
