Non-consultant hospital doctors are being balloted on a new agreement which would see unsafe and illegal hours of work eliminated.
The agreement was worked out between the Irish Medical Organisation, the Department of Health, and the Health Service Executive.
The IMO is recommending a Yes vote in the ballot, which gets underway today.
