A murder investigation is continuing this morning, after a man was gunned down in Finglas on Dublin's northside.

A post mortem has been completed on the body of the man in his 20s was was shot dead at Deanstown Avenue at around half four yesterday morning.

The results aren't being released for operational reasons. It's believed he was involved in a drug feud.

Local Fianna Fail Councillor Keith Connolly says action should be taken to prevent criminals drawing young people into crime.

"There should be severe penalties for anyone enticing a person into a life of crime.

"It goes back to resourcing Gardai, having community Gardai on the street, having respect for an Garda Siochana, and education as well.

"It's a tragic loss of a young person's life, 29 and their whole life ahead of them, who has been brutally killed."
