Munster’s new 100 million euro elective hospital is set to be built in Glanmire

The Irish Examiner that the site at St Stephen’s Hospital in Sarsfield Court has been recommended to the health minister.

The new hospital would have ten surgical theatres and between 400-600 beds.

Sites in Curraheen, the ESB lands in Wilton, and the docklands had also been considered, however it’s emerged that the Glanmire site is now the preferred option, which is currently home to a mental health unit, and an Alzheimers unit.
