The Minister for Housing has called an emergency summit, as concerns grow over the country's ability to accommodate refugees arriving from Ukraine.
Darragh O'Brien will meet with representatives from the construction and property sectors tomorrow to discuss additional pressures on the housing system.
More than 20-thousand refugees have arrived here so far, with the total expected to reach 200-thousand in the coming months.
The Business Post reports members of the construction sector are expected to dismiss proposals to build 'prefab villages' to house those fleeing the war.
Minister O'Brien says he's working with local authorities on plans to provide additional accommodation:
"I have a job which we are doing in relation to planning the medium and longer term response. So already we've received from the 31 local authorities across the country proposals in relation to conversion of both private and public buildings that are there for more semi-permanent accommodation. I have say clearly, I have a housing summit actually on Monday, with many of the stakeholders - both public and private - about how we could increase build capacity while protecting housing for all".
